eInfotree Solution - Deployment Options

Enterprise Content Management System

einfotree Client Server Version Deployment Options

The eInfotree client-server version can be installed in two primary configurations. The selection of a particular configuration is primarily governed by performance and maintainability and are explained below.

1. Centralized Option - Requires installation of components for each of the four tiers on each Client machine.

Since all components are installed on the client machine itself, this option provides for best performance. However, each client machine must be upgraded to install a new version of the software reducing the maintainability of this option. This option is recommended only in case of low network bandwidth.

2. Semi-Distributed Option. Requires Installation of Presentation Tier and Database Tier Components on each Client, and Installation of Application and Business Tier on a Centralized File Server.

This option increases the maintainability of the system since components that undergo changes are primarily related to the Application and Business Tiers. Further, the Presentation and the Database Tier Components that are accesses the most are installed locally thus providing the best performance for these operations. This option therefore provides the best balance between performance and maintainability.

einfotree Web Version Deployment

The eInfotree Web version deployment options are based on the location and configuration of eInfotree servers, since no eInfotree components are installed on the client machine. The selection of a particular configuration would be governed primarily by the number of users expected to work simultaneously. Two common deployment options are described below.

1. Combined Web and Application Server Option

In this option, the Application Server and the Web Server are installed on the same server. This configuration is typically used when the number of system users is below 100.

2. Distributed Web and Application Server Option

In this option, the Application Server and the Web Server are installed on separate machines. This configuration is recommended in the following typical scenarios:

  1. The number of users exceed 100.
  2. The Web Server and Application Servers are based on different operating systems.
  3. A Central Application Server provides services for several Web Servers.
